I started in robotics in early 2001. I went to a couple of "Ottawa Robotics Enthusiasts" meetings before I figured that robotics was not out of my reach. I got really good advice from ORE members as to what book to read, what tools to buy, how to solder, etc. I am building this page to share my learning experience of robotics.
I recommend Gordon McComb's book titled "The Robot's Builder's Bonanza". This book is full of ideas and is really good at introducing the basics of mechanics, electronics and programming. I also recommend the "Engineer's Mini-Notebook" series from Forrest M. Mimms III available at Radio Shack. It contains several simple practical electronics circuits.
